Stirling Castle Scottish Country Dance Group was formed in 1959 when a small group of Stirling based country dancers met to enjoy social dancing with like-minded folk. What became the Stirling Castle S.C.D. Group found much countrywide interest in our fortnightly dances during the months between Autumn and Spring.
Initially, dancing was in the gymnasium of Stirling Castle then in the Town's T.A. Drill Hall before progressing to St. Mary's School, Kildean Toll then to St Ninian's Parish Church Hall and currently in Bridge of Allan Parish Church Hall, Keir Street, Bridge of Allan.
On Saturday 4th April 2009, we celebrated our 50th Anniversary with a very successful dance held in the Victoria Hall, Dunblane and enjoyed by over 140 dancers. Amongst these were at least 2 dozen former members of the "Castle Demonstration Team" from the sixties to the eighties including Margaret Thomson, our team leader and tutor during that period.
